Ike & Tina Turner – Nutbush City Limits (1973) – vynil 45° – 7″

|

Ike & Tina Turner – Nutbush City Limits 1973 – vynil 45° – 7″ en.wikipedia.org “Nutbush City Limits” is a semi-autobiographical rock and roll song written and performed by Tina Turner, in which she describes her hometown of Nutbush, Tennessee. As an unincorporated town, Nutbush does not actually have “city limits”; but it does have a “Nutbush – Unincorporated” sign on the highway Original 1973 recording The original recording was produced by Ike Turner in 1973 and released by the couple under their professional name Ike & Tina Turner. The song was taken from an album of the same title, and proved to be the duo’s final significant chart hit, reaching #22 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #4 on the UK Singles Chart. Following the couple’s split, the song became a staple of Tina’s live show, where she re-worked the funky studio version into a hard-driving rock and roll showstopper. Marc Bolan is rumoured to have played guitar on this track. Although Gloria Jones stated definitely that he did on the film for the 2007 BBC4 Documentary Marc Bolan: The Final Word, it remains in doubt. However it is widely acknowledged that Bolan contributed to the later single “Sexy Ida”. Gloria provided backing vocals for Ike and Tina Turner in the 1960s so the story does stand up, especially as the guitar sound is very much like Bolan’s. Bolan toured the US extensively in the mid-70s and lived in LA for over a year from 1974.

Ryan Gosling breaks up fight in New York City!

|

Two dudes are fighting in the middle of the street in NYC. (Typical.) They’re playing tug-o-war over a painting (less typical) and while a girl is filming this ridic fight, literally OUT OF NOWHERE Ryan Gosling walks in (REALLY REALLY not typical). He steps into the quarrel and when he spots this altercation, he immediately tries to break it up (HEART OF GOLD!). Ryan drops his shopping bag (NOT MATERIALISTIC!) and throws his GIANT, THROBBING man muscle of an arm against the perpetrator and when he spots Ry Ry’s huge guns, he throws his hands up in defeat. By some crazy stroke of luck, Ryan decided to wear a striped and nautical-inspired tank the VERY day his bulging biceps would come in handy. THEREFORE, his tank top basically saved the day. Would the story have played out differently if he was wearing a baggy hoodie? YES. You can’t see all that rock hard steel beneath layers of cotton, people. Pure brawn speaks louder than any words you could POSSIBLY say to these angry gentleman, and for THAT, we should all give a nice, HUGE round of applause to Ryan Gosling’s tank top. It saved the day AND gave us a nice show of what those bad boys can do.

Slash – Paradise City (live at MTV Clasic Launch – Melbourne 2010)

My guitar God, up close and loud. This was a complete surprise for me, I knew that Slash was in town and I tried the impossible so I could go see him, but then I heard it was a private show with limited VIP tickets which were already given to the media people. I lost merely all hope until my best friend in Australia called me and told me over the phone: dude, guess what? you’re so obsessed and love that Slash guitar guy so much it annoys me, so I called a friend of mine, told him your story (over live radio) and got you 4 tickets for tonight’s show. I then ran home to change my crapped underwear, grabbed my camera and struggled my way to the front of the stage. One of the best nights in my life. I now can die, happy 🙂 ***Thank you Andrew Lee Gung, you rock man!
