This is Susan Gerl of the Dutch band God Dethroned playing at Jaxx Nightclub on Sunday 18 October 2009. Let me tell you she is no gimmick, she could really play! Most metal bands seem to get a female on the keyboards or something just so they can throw her into the band’s promo shots dressed all slutty. Not God Dethroned, I had no idea she was even in the band (even though I’ve seen plenty promoting the tour and their latest album). Best of all was that she could really play! She was playing lead guitar and also handled most of the solos and doing so quite well. Pretty awesome I gotta admit, especially since I don’t think I’ve ever seen a woman play lead guitar in a death metal band.
