Rock and Roll McDonald’s

The Rock and Roll McDonald’s in Chicago is a bit of a freakout. I tend to avoid McDonald’s in general, but between its location (across the street from our hotel room) and the fact that it was immortalized in a Wesley Willis song, I couldn’t resist.
The original Rock and Roll McDonald’s held a wide array of rock music memorabilia. That was replaced in 2005 by a gianormous new "modern" McDonald’s, with much of that memorabilia shifted to a separate freestanding building next door (what you see above).
The McDonald’s itself is ridiculously nice — to the point of having a gelato bar and lovely lounge area upstairs. The lounge in particular, with its groupings of retro black couches, looks nothing like a McDonald’s.
